John Marvin Barkley

Mr. John Marvin Barkley, 52 of Rome, Georgia formerly of Cartersville, Georgia passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11:00A.M. at Grassdale Cemetery.

John “Marvin” Barkley born July 18, 1967 to the late Marvin “Bo” Barkley and Mary Lou Barkley (Durham). His spirit departed this earthly life on June 25, 2020.

Marvin as he was called by all that knew him was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He graduated in 1985 from Cartersville High School and continued his studies at Kennesaw State University and obtained his BBA in Marketing in 1991. John went on to have a successful career, traveled the world, and cruised over 100 times throughout his adult life.

John was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Barkley; mother, Mary Lou Barkley (Durham); grandmother, Ruby Durham (Richey); and special cousin, Bobby Winters.

Marvin leaves behind to cherish his memories; sister, Mary Eugenia Clemmons (Ralph Jr.); brother, Barron Eugene Barkley (Teleshia); nephews, Brandon, Stephen, Martavious, and Derrick; nieces, Adrienne, Ebony, Shan-Tria (Kira), Cammia, Candace, and Tiffany; great nephews, Jakaden, Jaden and Channing; great nieces, Azaria, Rajanae, and Jakari; uncles, Sam, Charles (Linda), and Claude Durham; aunts, Ruby Wheeler, Martha Wilson, and Jacqueline Durham; and special friend Samuel “Alex” Woody; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
