John Travis Garnigan entered eternal peace on September 11, 2021. He was born on November 25, 1951, the fourth child born to the late William Horace Garnigan, Sr and Julia
Hattie Davis Garnigan. Johnny accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R.R. Freeman.

Later in life, he united with the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Edward Rhodes. Johnny was educated in the Cartersville Public School System beginning at the Summer Hill School and culminating in graduation from Cartersville High School with the Class of 1970. He was employed by Union Carbide until entering the U.S. Navy. He later returned to work at Union Carbide/Clorox, until his retirement after more than 30 years of employment and the eventual plant closing.

Johnny had a loving and caring heart. He could keep you rolling at family gatherings. He loved to watch his western movies, play cards, grill, bake sweet potato pies and just enjoy life. But most of all, he loved his family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Johnny was married to the late Susie Mae Smith Garnigan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Charles Sidney Garnigan, son Michael Johnson, grandparents Jerry Sidney Davis, Ada Lou Johnson Davis, Annie Lou Dyer Davis, Clara Wise Garnigan Arnold, and Horace Garnigan.

Johnny leaves to cherish his loving memories a daughter, LaTria A. Garnigan, sons Walter A. Johnson, III, and Tony V. Johnson (Kim), siblings William H. Garnigan, Jr (Carol), Lawrence Garnigan, Dale G. Griffin (Willis), Deana G. Rowland, Cheryl G. Turner (Gary), Margaretta S. Garnigan and Cora H. Nelson (Dennis), sister-in-law, Betty Gober (James), aunts Ella Louise Leslie and Elmira G. Gamble, special friends, Charlie Milner, Bob McClain and the staff at Waldrop Personal Care, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
