Mr. Joseph Lester Barnes, 80 of Warm Springs, Georgia formerly of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Canterbury Nursing Home in Phoenix City, Alabama.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, GA 30120. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
Joseph Lester Barnes was born on March 17, 1942 in Warm Springs, Georgia to the late Marshall and Earline Barnes. On Wednesday, June 22, 2022 the Lord sent His angels to bring Joseph home to rest at the tender age of 80.
Joseph was educated in the Meriwether County School System. Upon graduating from High School in Warm Springs he began working odd jobs all around town.
He later met and married the beautiful Josephine Louise Dean and moved to Cartersville, Georgia in 1976, making this their new home. To this union one child was born, Jessica Earline Barnes. Joseph began his employment with Redmond Regional Hospital as an Operating Technician where everyone knew him as “Mr. B”. He was a fun, loving person and everyone that knew him or was acquainted with him would always be welcomed with a smile and a handshake. He loved people and they loved him. Joseph worked there for twenty-eight years and retired in 1996. After retiring, he loved playing golf, cooking, playing lottery, and just enjoying his family. He loved cooking his favorite meals, which consisted of Collard Greens and Pinto Beans. After being retired for ten years Joseph decided to get back into the work force. He decided to seek employment at Floyd Medical Center and was hired to work as a Desk Clerk part-time until his health began to fail him. He never met a stranger, and every time you would see him, he had a smile on his face and a conversation ready to talk your head off. All that loved him will truly miss him but we know that he is in a better place and reunited with his beautiful wife Josephine.
Joseph is preceded in death by his loving wife, Josephine; daughter, Barbara Deloach; parents, Marshall and Earline Barnes; siblings, Dorothy Hughes, and Marvin Barnes.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory; daughter, Jessica (Ashley) Nauck; sister, Ola Mae B. Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; a wonderful grandson, SSG Kendrick (Amanda) Deloach of Mayport Naval Base, Jacksonville, Florida; niece, Beverly Ann Parks; nephew, DeWayne Dennis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
