Kevin Rogers Obituary

Kevin Antonio Rogers, 58 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away suddenly on Monday, June 24, 2024 at his residence. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. A  Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 12:00PM (Noon) at St. Luke AME Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 11:00AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery,  2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, Georgia 30114,on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 10:30AM. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 6:00PM - 7:00PM at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

Kevin Antonio Rogers was born on October 27, 1965 in Bartow County to the late Lois Marie Rogers and Harold Moore. He was educated in the Cartersville City School system. He was a member of the Cartersville High basketball team, and graduated in the class of 1984.

He served his Country by enlisting in the Air Force Reserve on May 25, 1990. After 21 years, he retired from the service on February 10, 2011. He was well known in the community as a member of the New Frontier of Bartow County. While being a member of the New Frontier, he helped establish a mentors program and served as a basketball coach for the New Frontier travel team; NF Canes, NF Baby Canes, and NF Stars. Kevin was the recipient of the prestigious Robert H. Wade New Frontier Award in 2023.

He was a quiet, laid back person. In his spare time, you could find him enjoying the North Carolina Tar heels basketball team, working at Lowe’s Home Improvement, or enjoying his family.  After his mother passing, he became the caretaker of his nephew who has cerebral palsy.

Welcoming him on the other side are his parents: Lois Rogers & Harold Moore; brother, James Moore; four uncles, Capers Rogers Jr., James Rogers, Bill Rogers, & Charles Rogers; one aunt, Betty Hyatt; special cousins, Kenny Clark, Bonita Henderson, Lisa Heard, & Carey Heard.

He leaves to cherish his memory: four sisters, Dana Ford, Erica Rogers, Crystal (Ron) Allen, Sukonda (Andrew) Rogers; two brothers, Barry (Priscilla) Moore, Stephen (Zena) Moore; two special children, Deja & Diamond Brockington; four special grandchildren, Giovanni, Jahsiah, Assata, & Mariyah; seven nieces and nephews, Venika Ford, Marcus Rogers, LaQuana Moore, Tory Moore, Kayla Moore, DiNiris Moore, & Neya Allen; two great nephews, EJ & Emari Moore and several cousins and friends.
