Lillie Martin Obituary

Ms. Lillie Martin, 88 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 2:00pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 1:00pm until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

Our Heavenly Father sent His angels for His faithful servant in the early hour on Sunday, December 8, 2019.

Lillie Mae Martin was born in Cartersville, Georgia on August 31, 1931 along with her twin sister, Lillian Milner to the late Mr. Edward Richard Milner, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Edwards Milner

Lillie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and she remained faithful until her health began to decline.

She met and married the late Willie Roy “Pete” Martin.  Lillie received her education at Summer Hill School and has spent all her life in Cartersville, Georgia.

Lillie was a member of the Eastern Stars. Her work involved taking care of her family and her neighbors, she also did domestic work in several private homes. Lillie had no biological children but all of her nieces and nephews were her children.

Lillie was proceeded in death by her husband, Willie Roy “Pete” Martin; three sisters, Lillian Milner, Mary Wade and Ruth Milner; three brothers, Edward Richard Milner, Jr., John Henry Milner and Luther Louis Milner.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two very loving sisters, Ethel Milner, who was also unconditionally her caregiver, and Carrie Milner; many wonderful nieces, Glinda Heard, Blendia Kelley, Patricia Milner, Gail Lingham, Sallie Dean and Lisa Gamble; many awesome nephews, Randy Jones, Derrick Milner, Anthony Hollis Jones, James Jones, Danny Milner, Kennedy Milner and Vernon Milner; and all the caregivers from Heartland Hospice.
