Mr. Lucius Wheeler, Jr., 72, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Cartersville Medical Center. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 1:00PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 106 Firetower Road, Cassville, Georgia 30120. Interment will be in the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:00AM. The service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

On Monday evening, September 7, 2020, the death angel came and bore Lucius Wheeler, Jr’s spirit away to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow and pain, at the age of 72.Lucius was born on December 5, 1947 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Lucius Wheeler, Sr. and the late Ella Belle Gainor Wheeler. He was the third child of twelve children.

Lucius was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Lee Beavers Wheeler, brothers, James A. Wheeler, Sr. (Janice), Perry Wheeler, John L. Gainor, and his sister Eva Mae Wheeler Johnson.

Lucius was educated in the Bartow County School System and afterward served three years in the United States Air Force, ( a VIETNAM VETERAN). After service, he worked as a Fireman in the Cartersville area then at Hickory Log in White, Georgia and Georgia Diversified. Lucius was a warm- hearted caring and fun loving person who loved and enjoyed the fellowship with his family, friends and church family. He enjoyed sports, (favorite team Seattle  Seahawks), fishing with his brother and brothers-in-laws and playing golf.

Lucius leaves to cherish his memories: sisters and brothers, Lillie Marian Wheeler Coleman, Willie Frank Wheeler (Retanza), Margaret Arnita Wheeler, Gladys Denise Wheeler Gates (Rufus), Patsy Ruth Wheeler Coleman (Anthony), Donald Laveen Wheeler (Veronica),  and Alice Iola Wheeler Chester: a very caring and loving friend and companion for over thirty years, Gwen Matthews: a loving daughter and son, Benita Callahan and Christopher Chestnut: Godchildren,  Fumiko Dansby and Charvis Dansby: grandchildren, Darnisha (My My) Dansby, Jordan Callahan, and Janee Callahan: Great Grandson, Zane: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be admitted to the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends may not be admitted . However the service will be Live-Streamed.
