Lurline “Pat” Adams Roberson was born on July 22, 1925, in Lyerly, Georgia to the late Ruth Knox Adams and Harper Adams. She was also brought up by a devoted stepmother, the late Rosebud Mayo Adams, and her grandparents, the late John and Emma Adams. Pat was the oldest of two daughters (the late Aria Adams Mitchell). Pat confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and became a member of Pond Springs A.M.E. Zion Church. Raised on a farm, she had a strong work ethic that benefited her throughout her life. She graduated from Chattooga County Training School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Fort Valley State College. Thereafter, she received an offer of employment as a teacher with the Bartow County School System in Cartersville, Georgia, where she met her future husband, William “June” Roberson. Pat and June were married for 64 years until his death in 2013. To this union, two sons were born, the late William Thaxton Roberson and Elliott Vincent Roberson.
While teaching in Bartow County at Cass Elementary, Pat furthered her education by obtaining a Master’s Degree from the University of West Georgia. She retired as an educator after forty years of dedicated service. Pat’s love for her family was only exceeded by her love for her Lord and Savior. She continued to nurture her faith as a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in various auxiliaries, including the Deaconess and Mothers’ Boards. Pat was a woman of great faith with a servant’s heart, who served her family and community well. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Pat extended help to all who needed it. She was an excellent cook, loved to make fresh vegetables from her home garden, and was known for her macaroni and cheese. Pat enjoyed reading, shopping, and being active in the community. She was one of the organizers of the Les Savants Club and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
