Margaret Ann Ford Shaw of Cartersville, Georgia was born on June 3, 1949 to the late Rosa Mae Ford and Robert Ford. Her late grandparents Maggie Lou Jones and Bob Jones raised her from a child into a beautiful adult.  Margaret departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest in her heavenly home on February 28, 2023.

Margaret joined New Hope Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia at an early age. She later joined Alexander Chapel United Methodist Church, where she held several positions including, singing in the choir, and heading up the youth department and the kitchen committee. She thoroughly enjoyed working in all the positions she held.

She was faithful in serving on the Emancipation Committee and working with the other churches in the community. Margaret was educated in the Bartow County School System attending Summer Hill High School. After graduating she attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia where she earned her teaching degrees. She was employed with the Cartersville City School System where she retired in 2009. After retiring she spent time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, just cooking, baking and listening to her favorite songs, Again and Again, May the Works I’ve Done and Jesus Will.

Margaret was blessed with two beautiful children, Derwin and Sharri. She was married to the late Earl Shaw. She was so proud of Derwin when he started his own business and Sharri following in her mom’s footsteps becoming a teacher.  She raised her granddaughter Ashanti (Peaches) Ellis as her own. She held a special bond with her Aunt Maggie McMickens, which could never be broken.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandparents, and sister Katie Douglas.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her son, Derwin Jones of Cartersville, Georgia, daughter, Sharri (Odell) Lewis of Cartersville, Georgia; five grandchildren, Ashanti, LaDallis, Tarik, Octavious, and Julius; three great granddaughters, Nani, Navi, and Avianna; sister, Linda Ford Kellogg; goddaughter, Helen Davis; two special people she loved, Misty Adams and Derrick Milner;her loving running partners, Polly Pritchett, Martha Turner and Ann Kelly; and a host of other relatives and friends.
