Martha Ruth (Upshaw) Bonner

Mrs. Martha Ruth Bonner, 84 of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020. A Private Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 12:00pm (Noon) at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.

Mother Bonner was born on May 18, 1935, the fifth child born to the late James and Bertha Upshaw. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Baptist Church in Rydal, GA. As an adult she became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Mitchell. Later she united with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. where she served faithfully on the Mother Board. Mother Bonner loved life and she loved people. Her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, working in her yard, listening to Gospel music and reading.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bonner and sisters, Alice Summerize, Dorothy Williams, Sarah Brown, Cora Smith and Mary Laura Webb.
Mother Bonner leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children, Larry Johnson (Connie) and Laura Juanita Griffin (Charles); five stepchildren, Marsha, Janelle, Randy, Calvin and Frank, Jr. Bonner; Loving grandchildren, Ronco Johnson (Katherine), Derrick Johnson (Celine), Frederick Griffin, Scott Henderson (Anna) and Amanda Griffin; Precious great grandchildren, Victoria, Alexia, Lauren, Amaya, Marcus, Raina, Kwon and Destiny; siblings, Leroy Upshaw (Helen), Flora Bryant, Helen Duster, Betty Buffington and Dean Upshaw (Lois); Special niece Thenda Verneice Akles and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, loved ones and friends.
