Mr. Matthew Ledbetter Jr.,aka "Bug", 86 of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. The family will have a Memorial Service on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at 12:00PM (Noon) at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
Matthew Ledbetter Jr. was born on May 7, 1936 in Cartersville, Bartow County, Georgia and later moved to the Lakewood Christian Manor in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Matthew Sr. and Hattie Beatrice Jackson. On Saturday, May 14, 2022 , our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called him home for his eternal rest. "Bug" as he was known to everyone accepted Christ at an early age and after moving to Atlanta he attended Salem Bible Church, Reverend Jasper Williams, Pastor. Matthew attended Summer Hill High School in Cartersville, Georgia
After graduating from high school Bug enlisted in the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged on January 23, 1962. When he returned home he became employed with the City of Cartersville Public Works Department where he worked diligently until he retired. After retirement he worked several handyman jobs for various companies.
Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Hattie Ledbetter; brothers, David Lee and Hubert Ledbetter; sisters, Betty Hardaway and Laura Jean Ledbetter.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: sisters; Joyce(Clyde) Thomas, Carrollton, Georgia, Reverend Juanita (Edner) Pierre-Louis, New York, New York, Ruth Day, Fairburn, Georgia, and Scottie Ledbetter, Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Robert (Diane) Ledbetter, Austell, Georgia and James Stanley (Carolyn) Ledbetter of Cartersville, Georgia; special friend, Ophelia Billups; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
