On Saturday, October 26, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call Michael Tyrone Little from active duty to eternal rest. Michael was a man with a big heart, a loving father, and a cherished friend to many. Today, we celebrate his life and legacy.
Michael was born in Cartersville, Georgia on September 22, 1964, to the late Irene Little Johnson and Asbury Stevens. He grew up with his siblings and friends in the Summer Hill community and attended school in the Cartersville school system, graduating from Cartersville High School. He remained a Bartow County resident and worked in the manufacturing industry. As a youth, he played recreational basketball and was widely known for his impressive basketball skills and remarkable “vertical leap”.
Throughout his life, Michael had a passion for working with his hands. He was exceptionally skilled in carpet fabrication, dedicating over 30 years to mastering his craft. He also spent many years working in a cabinet shop, where he built high-end, custom kitchen cabinets. His meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to quality were evident in everything he touched. Michael was also a man who embraced the wonders of technology, always exploring the latest gadgets and innovations. His talent, combined with a love for creating and building, made him an exceptional craftsman and a trusted colleague to those he worked with.
Michael had a great sense of humor and contagious laughter, finding joy in simple pleasures. Like his mother, Michael enjoyed baking; his specialty was chocolate chip cookies and pecan pies, which he shared with friends and family. He also enjoyed shooting hoops on a sunny afternoon. Many did not know that he was a talented sketch artist and was a self-proclaimed “movie critic”. Michael will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity, often helping others who were in need without expectation, and his unwavering love for those close to him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and love that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Irene Little-Johnson and Asbury Stevens; and nephew Caricione Little.
He leaves behind a family who loves him dearly: his daughter Tamara Little, stepdaughter Alexandra Heard, and ex-wife Angela Little. He is also survived by his three loving sisters, Donna Little-Wiley, Robin Little-Lemons (Hassan), and Wanda Johnson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We also acknowledge his dearest friends Tharis Word and Jonathan Wade -- his brothers for life.
We will continue to celebrate Michael’s memory by enjoying the little things he loved. His spirit lives on in the everyday moments that brought him and all of us – so much joy.
Thank you, Michael, for sharing your life with us.
