In God’s plan are many things we cannot understand, but we must trust God’s plan. On Saturday, July 17, 2021, Mona Louise Gay Evans was called to her heavenly home. Mona was born on August 22, 1959 to the late Reuben and Thelma Davis Gay in Cartersville, Georgia. She was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated from Cass High School with the Class of 1977. She married the love of her life; her high school sweetheart Charlie “Chuck” Evans on January 3, 1980 and to this union three children were born.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael Sutton and then Pastor Randy Livsey.
Everyone that knew Mona loved her and she never met a stranger. She had a smile that would light up a room and a heart that was bigger than you could ever imagine. She loved her family and they spent many times having fun together. Her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family and watching them enjoy their meals.
Mona also loved doing her nails and feet and she loved to show off her perfection at manicuring and pedicuring. Her favorite pastime was watching the Wendy Williams Talk Show in the afternoon and The Haves and Have Nots in the evening.
Mona was a hard worker and never liked being bored. She worked for Gerdau Steel until retirement and after a year of being at home, Mona accepted a job with Toyo Tire Company and worked until her health began to fail her, yet she worked until the end.
She is preceded in death by her father, Reuben Gay; son, Baby Boy Evans; grandson, Ashton Evans; and granddaughter, Ariana Ransom.
Mona leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Chuck Evans; three children, Derek Evans, April (Jerry) Ransom, and Ashley Evans; two grandchildren, A’Layah Evans and ReShay Pratt; her mother, Thelma Gay; sisters, Ruby Jackson, Dianne (Joe Frank) McCoy, Lois Gay, and Edith Shaw; brother, Reuben Gay, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be admitted to the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted.
