Mr. Ralph Lowe Obituary

Mr. Ralph Lowe, 80, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Funeral Service for Mr. Lowe will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 12:00 PM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, 790 Indian Mound Rd. SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. 

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

Ralph Lowe was born March 27, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Wilbur Lowe, Sr. and Eva Kennebrew Lowe. He graduated from Spencer High School with the class of 1959. Ralph matriculated at Savannah State College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1963. He furthered his education at Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma with a Master’s Degree in Mathematics in 1975.  He also received his Sixth Year Certification in Education Administration and Supervision in 1980.  He has received numerous certificates and awards.

Ralph was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he actively served on the Deacons Board, Usher Board, Superintendent of Sunday School and Sunday School Teacher.

He was employed with the Cartersville City School System, having taught at the former Historic Summer Hill High School, Cartersville Middle School and Cartersville High School.  He also taught at Cass High School and later became an Assistant Principal prior to being promoted to Coordinator of Mathematics, Science and Chapter One for the Bartow County School System.  Ralph was selected to serve as principal of Cass Primary School and Hamilton Crossing Elementary School and subsequently appointed as the first principal of Mission Road Elementary School.

After retirement from the Bartow County Schools, Ralph worked with the Superior Court of Bartow County, the Bartow County Board of Elections and Voter Registration and served as a Voter Precinct Supervisor and Bailiff.

He was quite active in his community giving unselfishly of his time to the following organizations: The New Frontier of Bartow County, Incorporated – Board of Directors; the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee of Bartow County; Cartersville-Bartow County NAACP; Bartow County Emancipation Committee; Cartersville-Bartow County Diversity Committee; Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce; Bartow County Government; Savannah State University Alumni; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.; and various other clubs and organizations. Ralph faithfully served as a member of the  Executive Board of the Noble-Hill-Wheeler Memorial Center. When Ralph was not serving his community he found joy playing golf, watching sports, grilling for his friends and family and following the Cartersville Canes.

Ralph leaves to cherish his loving memory, the love of his life and wife of 54 years Queen Ella Green Lowe, gifted and loving daughter, Ellisa Lowe Douglas (Byron), one precious and loving granddaughter, Jiyah Lowe Tomlin; one brother, James Kennebrew Lowe (Bettye); sisters–in-law, Eva Lowe, Arena Lowe, Carol Jones, June D. Green, and Drucilla McClellan (Carl); three brothers-in-law, Bobby Green, Clayton Green (Barbara) and Johnny Green (Bennie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
