Mr. William Andrew Benson

Mr. William Andrew Benson, AKA 'Boosie', 74, of Rome, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Atrium Floyd Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

William was born on October 27, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Rome, Georgia, where he built a life rooted in family, love, and perseverance.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. Those who knew him knew a man who valued loyalty, connection, and showing up for the people he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Scottie Mae Scott and Allen Benson; son, Dionn Benson; father figure, Mr. Homer Barner; sister-in-law, Patricia ‘Pat-Pat’ Davis; and special friend, Maddy Long.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalyn Davis-Benson; his children, Nicole Watters, Marquis Davis, Brandon Davis, and Shamara (Duriel) Gray; and his cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn (Scott) Wingo; his brother, Doncarlus Scott; several nieces & nephews; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, 3:00 P.M. at Holsey Sinai CME Church, 1233 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rome, Georgia 30161.  He will lie in-state from 1:30 P.M. until the hour of service.  Immediately following the service, the family ask for everyone to join them at the repast and share their memories of “Boosie”.

William’s life was one of dedication to family and quiet resilience. His legacy lives on through the love he gave, the lessons he taught—spoken and unspoken—and the generations he helped shape. Though he may no longer be with us, his presence will always be felt in shared memories, family traditions, and the bonds he strengthened during his lifetime.
