On April 27, 2021, God called home His servant, Betty L. Rogers to eternal peace and rest.
Betty was born on May 6, 1934 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late A.J.Woods and Candy Sweet Woods. She was preceded in death by her parents: her loving husband of 63 years, James T. Rogers; her son, James Rogers, Jr.; and several siblings; sisters, Hattie Sloan, Florene Jones, Samantha Slocum, and Pearl Conner ; brothers, Willie Glenn Woods and Willie Augustus Woods.
Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and she joined Macedonia Baptist Church. Eventually, she changed her membership to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served in different capacities for many years including as a servant leader of the Kitchen Ministry and as a member of the Deaconess Ministry. Prior to her illness, she was a faithful and devoted member of her beloved Sunday School Class.
Much like the "Good Samaritan," Betty knew the true meaning of "love thy neighbor." She respected the dignity and worth of all persons, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. Betty was also an excellent cook, and she was known for her macaroni and cheese. She would have fed the world, if she could, and she found such joy and contentment through feeding and loving others.
Most importantly, Betty was a loving wife, doting mother, adoring sister, aunt, and cousin, and fiercely loyal friend. There was nothing more important to her than her children, family, and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Theresa Oglesby (John) and Carolyn Rogers Johnson; four grandchildren, Saundra Rogers, Stephen Raymone George (Eowyn), Misty Grayer (Daryl), and Terrica Bailey (Mike); seven great-grandchildren, Bethani Pickett, Brooke Pickett, Jaiden George, Elliott Geoge, Tripp Grayer, Reese Bailey, and Parker Bailey; siblings, Beulah Sloan and Albert Woods (Mary); and a host of relatives, loved ones , and friends.
