Janice Denise “Vann” Owens was born in Atlanta, Georgia at Grady Memorial Hospital on March 18, 1966 to the late Mr. Milton Harvey Askew and Ms. Betty Jean Heard.
Vann as she was called by all that knew her was a hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was dedicated to taking care of her family, spoiling her granddaughters, and keeping things in alignment. Everything she did she did it with LOVE!!! Vann loved cooking, shopping, and long drives on the back roads of Taylorsville. It was like a journey through time when she visited Taylorsville because it brought back memories of her childhood, where her great-grandmother Julie Bell Heard raised her.
Janice was educated in the Bartow County School System; she attended Cass High School and graduated with the Class of 1983. After graduating she took a career in the Medical Field. She cared for patients that were homebound and she treated them like they were her very own family. Vann was a phenomenal woman who will be truly missed but never forgotten!!!
She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Shirley Askew and Tecali Askew.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband who was her high school sweetheart, Michael Anthony Owens; children, Jessica Askew and Justin Owens; grandchildren, Jailah and Jaelyn Askew; siblings, Terry Carter, Danny (Stephanie) Askew, Milton “Milk” Askew, Anthony “Ampfy” Askew, and Tameka Askew; a very special best friend Cheryll McClure; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
