On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, God, in His loving wisdom, called home our precious Marian Henrietta Davis Woodard to eternal rest. She was born September 24, 1934 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late John Bill and Edna Jackson Davis. She was the third of six siblings.
Marian was educated in the Bartow County School System, attending Summer Hill High School and graduating with the Class of 1951. She met and married the love of her life the late Edward Woodard, Sr. on February 2, 1964 and to this union three children were born. Marian had a passion for caring for children. She not only cared for her own children but the neighborhood and the community children as well. During her pastime she could be found sitting on the porch reading her Bible or talking to others about the Lord and how good He has been.
Marian was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board, sang with the E.H. Mitchell Choir for many years and attended Sunday School. She was also involved in other areas of the church as needed. Marian served faithfully until her health began to decline.
Her husband, Edward Woodard, Sr.; parents, John Bill and Edna Davis; sisters, Mabel Holmes, Mahalia Johnson and Elaine Henderson; and a grandson, Edward W. Curtis, precede her in death.
Marian leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, daughter, Benita Woodard Curtis; sons, Edward Wesley and John Davis Woodard; granddaughters, Janaeh Woodard and Vyneshai (Kyler) Lawrence; grandson, Khamren Curtis; great-grandsons, Quintin Curtis, Kaeden and Khyri Lawrence; sisters, Jean Davis and Jewellyn Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: not to only me, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8
