On April 9, 2018, Yah called His own, Sarah Virginia Richards Copeland to cease from all labor and rest in her heavenly home.  Sarah was born May 8, 1929, in Bartow County, Georgia to the late Ed and Hattie Henderson Richards.  Her mother died when she was only six years old.  Her Aunt Sarah and Uncle James ‘Happy’ Younger took on the responsibility of raising her and her four sisters.

Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she stayed faithful until death.  She was educated at Summer Hill High School and Fort Valley State College.  She was an outstanding seamstress, as she worked at Iris Dry Cleaners for many years.

Sarah had a quiet spirit, but a huge presence.  To know her was to love and respect her.  She always treated people the way she wanted to be treated.  Sarah was married to the late Lloyd G. Bryant and to this union was born Michael Wayne Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stiles ‘Son’ Copeland.

She leaves to cherish her memories, son, Michael Wayne Bryant of Minneapolis; daughters, Rita LaVerne Copeland of Acworth and Kathy Copeland-Thomas (Scott) of Cartersville; eight grandchildren, Pierre Hodges of Minneapolis, Marcel Williams of Minneapolis, Curtis Rusin of Reno, Nevada, and Samuel James Bryant (Taylor) of Minneapolis, Stephen Rashad Fowler of Atlanta, Jordan Stiles Fowler of Atlanta, Phillip Scott Thomas (Briona), of  Norcross, and Tyler Copeland Thomas of Cartersville; three great grandchildren, Blake Williams, Beau Janes Bryant, and Sophia Yah Bri’El Thomas; two special cousin, Linda Everette and Faye Windom; special friend, Mrs. Betty Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved one and friends.
