"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5
Tara was born on August 29, 1972 in Rockmart, Georgia to the late Walter Louis Christopher, Sr. and Brenda Christopher Bradley. Tara was the eldest of three children born to this union. She took her role of Big Sister seriously and experienced great joy in being Mama #2 to Walt and Kim. Tara was loved by everyone she met and would always strike up a conversation with anyone who was close by. She enjoyed telling practical jokes and her deep, unique laughter was infectious. If she started laughing, you definitely felt compelled to join in! Tara’s biggest joy of life and reason for living was her two children, Tiara Mone’ Scrutchins and Torrian Martell Scrutchins. The three of them could always be seen together around town and Tara was always proud to introduce her son and daughter.
As a youth, Tara was fond of being outside. She was always found spending time with the neighborhood guys riding bikes, climbing trees and running around with her group of friends. She took the initiative to start a club for girls and the bunch would meet regularly in her front yard- dancing, listening to music, and talking about boys. Her favorite musician growing up was Michael Jackson and her favorite movie was “The Color Purple”, she had every word memorized and watched it frequently. She, her brother Walt, and sister Kim spent many hours exploring the land around their home and hosting friends and family for sleepovers.
It was during this time that Tara became a member of Church of Lord Jesus (COLJ). She sang alto in the choir, was a member of the Junior Usher Board, and a Pastor’s Aid member under Bishop David Braziel. Tara was also a proud Rockmart Yellow Jacket, she was a cheerleader and softball player, and graduated high school in 1991. After graduation, Tara attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama; she had aspirations to become a registered nurse. Tara was a hard worker and spent many years of service at Mohawk, Shaw Industries, and TI Automotive. She took great pride in working to support her family and always sacrificed to make sure they were provided for
Tara was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Dewey and Mattie Christopher (Cartersville, Georgia) and Charles and Mildred Goggins and Frank Thompson (Rockmart, Georgia). Her brother, Walter Louis Christopher, Jr. (Cartersville, Georgia) also transitioned before her. Her aunties Portia Cosby, Marilyn McLendon (Cartersville, Georgia), Patricia Hughes, Ramonda Washington, Sonya Turner, and Gwendolyn Wilson (Rockmart, Georgia) all preceded her in death. Tara shared special relationships with all her loved ones and is now reunited with them. We know they welcomed her with hearty hugs and loving spirits.
Tara’s life, experiences, and wonderful memories will forever be cherished by her children; her sister, Kimberly E. Christopher, and her nephew, Bryson Christopher (Cartersville, Georgia); Her devoted Daddy, Eddie (Donnarae) Bradley (Cedartown, Georgia) will always honor her legacy; Tara’s Godsisters, Nicole Stamper Esteban and Quanittee Borders Coalson have a bond with her that will never be broken; Her Aunties Pamela (Jeffery) Darden, Deborah Ford, Venita (Larry) Tolbert (Rockmart, Georgia), Emma (James) Johnson (Yorkville, Georgia), Dell Christopher, Tracy Christopher (Cartersville, Georgia) will never forget Tara’s kind spirit. Her Uncles Charles (Cecilia) Thompson, Franklin Thompson, Lonnie Goggins, and Michael (Teresa) Bradley (Rockmart, Georgia) will also cherish every moment they shared. Her friends Nikki Mitchell Minor, LaToya Aker, Monica Wheeler Moore, Tiara Callahan Ellis, Windy Turner, and Tonya Howard will remember their good times fondly. Tara created special relationships with many extended aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends - memories of her smile will brighten our days for years to come.
