Nancy Marie Johnson was born on July 16, 1942, to Richard Earl Henderson and Marie Franklin Henderson. She was received into the arms of her heavenly Father on December 24, 2023.

Born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia, Nancy was the third of nine children. She married James“Jimbo” Johnson and lived in Indiana, Indianapolis before returning to her home state and the

Cartersville community that she loved. Those who knew Nancy boasted of her strong work ethic and kind spirit. She worked for Goodyear, EZ Mills, and First Brand throughout her life. In 2004, Nancy retired but decided that was not the end of her productivity. She wanted to stay busy and started a cleaning business. But Nancy didn’t just clean homes. She showed up with a smile and encouraging words for the clients that she supported with her services. When Nancy wasn’t meeting the needs of her clients, she spent time with her sons and her grandchildren. Family meals would include her signature fried chicken, potato salad, pound cake, or red velvet cake. Her cakes were so delicious that people requested and gladly paid her to bake the wonderful desserts for which she was known. Decorating her home was also a hobby for Nancy, as was her beautiful collection of crystals that was always displayed in her living room. If she were counseling you through a tough situation, she would often say, “Look up, not down.” as a reminder of where to put your faith, focus, and attention. (Hebrews 12: 2). When Nancy suffered a stroke in 2019, she needed 24-hour care. She moved into a nursing home but would often spend her days at the nurse’s station chatting and joking around.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband James, her siblings, Richard Henderson Jr., Joyce Johnson, Patricia Stokely, and Wanda Garnigan and her granddaughter Kaitlyn.

She leaves behind to carry on her legacy four sons; Randy Henderson, Byron (Kim) Johnson, Lamar (Sabrina) Johnson, and Stephen Johnson; siblings Betty Hill, Carol (William) Garnigan, and Wayne (Emma) Henderson, Sr.; sister-in-law JoAnne Shropshire; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved and cherished her dearly.
