Mr. Nathaniel Carson, Sr., age 76 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 12:00PM (Noon) at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 11:00AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, 790 Indian Mound Rd. SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Nathaniel Carson Sr. was born the seventh child to Charlie Henry Carson Sr., and Nellie Ledbetter Carson on September 22, 1945. Always studious and disciplined, he gave his life to God at the tender age of nine. As a good and faithful member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, he served as YPWW President, Church treasurer, Deacon, Minister, and Elder ordained by Bishop Roy Winbush.
Nathaniel stayed near and served under many Holy men of God. His Pastor Superintendent Simon Shuman, Elder Willie Everette, Superintendent Noah Rosser, Bishop Henderson Spivey, Superintendent John Thomas, and his Father Elder C.H. Carson Sr. "He that follows after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness and honor" Psalm 21:21.
Nathaniel's education was in the Cartersville City System. He graduated from Summer Hill High School in the class of 1965. In his later years he attended Kennesaw College. In 1964, Nathaniel Carson and Minnie Darby's friendship and relationship established by God came forth and blossomed. They were united in Holy Matrimony in 1967 for a beautiful duration of 54 years. To this union, God blessed them with three beautiful children, Nathaniel Carson Jr., Noel and Nicholas. Nathaniel and his family left Cartersville in 1971. As a very talented and skilled worker Nathaniel did all the work his hand found to do for his family, friends and church. He was employed by Hewlett-Packard where he advanced to System Analyst. He retired after 31 years of excellent service. God had different plans for Nathaniel. Nathaniel was appointment Pastor of Miracle Valley Church of God in Christ in Dalton, GA by Bishop Henderson Spivey in 2004 where he served until God called him home.
Nathaniel is preceded in death by his parents, Elder C.H.Carson Sr. and Mother Nellie Ledbetter Carson; his son Nick Carson; his brothers, Charlie H. Carson Jr, Willie V. Carson; his sister Shirley Waites.
He leaves to cherish and to forever lift up his legacy, his wife, Minnie D. Carson; his son Nate Carson of Acworth, GA ; his daughter, Noel Carson Hill (Darren) of Newman, GA; his grandson, Isaiah Carson; his granddaughters, Jasmine, Tacarra, Sierra, Alexis and Tianna; his great-grands, Mariah, Taylen and Jamari; his daughter-in-laws, Patsy and Cecelia; his brothers, Robert L. Carson of Cartersville, Oscar Carson of Dalton, GA; his sisters, Betty McAfee of Cartersville, GA, Nell Moore (Jimmie) of Dallas, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow workers, neighbors and friends, his church families of Miracle Valley Church of God in Christ, Headquarters District, and Western Georgia Jurisdiction.
Nathaniel was a good and faithful servant of the work assigned to him by God.
"His Lord said unto him, Well done , thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:21.
Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted to the service.
