Nickie (Thornton) Mitchell

Mrs. Nickie Thornton Mitchell, 56 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center, Cartersville, Georgia. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 11:00A.M. at Friendship Baptist Church, 606 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 10:00A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Street, Acworth, Georgia 30101. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 6:00PM - 7:00PM at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. THIS SERVICE WILL BE LIVE-STREAMED.

Nickie Thornton MItchell was called to her heavenly home on May 10, 2023. She was born on November 16, 1966, to the late Isaac and Geraldine Thornton in Cobb County. She grew up in Rose Garden Hills in Smyrna and attended Campbell High School where she was a member of the tennis team.

Nickie was a hard worker. SHe was employed with Everdry in Acworth for five years and Inafal Roofing Systems for the past seven years. She believed in family over everything. Nickie loved attending to her garden and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a joy to be around. Nickie had an infectious smile and made it her business to make sure you were smiling too.

She was married to Walter Mitchell on July 7, 2002. They shared many beautiful years of love. Nickie was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church on June 12, 2002 and was a fairthful and dedicated member. She served as an Usher and a Youth Minister.

Nickie is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Geraldine Thornton; daughter, Teela Florence; and a sister , Libby Thornton.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband, Walter Mitchell; children, Trent Thornton, Ambra Florence, Dexter Stephens, Nickia Thornton, Tyrelle Stephens, Diane Mitchell and Maria Mitchell; fourteen grandchildren, Jonathan Jackson, Givonni Lewis, Dmiaya Florence, Ta'sia Holder, Tre'NIsha Thornton, Rashan Holder, Nezar Florence, Ja'von Stephens, Jerland Stephens,Jr., Tymiere Dumas, DeMario Jennings, Jr., Bra'nell Powers, Bri'yon Powers, and Eli Stephens; siblings, Melissa King (Phillip), Tina Thornton, Ike Thornton (Denise), David Thornton and Earl Thornton; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
