Ms. Pamela Ann Richey, 65, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at West Rome Baptist Church, 914 Shorter Avenue, Rome, GA 30165. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until the hour of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family ask if you would please make donations to the New Frontier Club, Inc.

Pamela Anne Gibbons Richey, also lovingly known as “Momma Pam” and “Granny”, took her eternal rest on April 11, 2022. She was born on June 11, 1956, in Rockmart, Georgia. Pamela was a graduate of Rockmart High School and began her law enforcement career at Cartersville Police Department. In 1984, she was hired by the Rome City Police Department, being the first African American female officer to join the force. Becoming a police officer was the perfect profession for her, as she was committed to serving and helping people.
Pamela made many friends in Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and Emergency Medical Technicians community locally and throughout the State. She served 34 years with Rome City PD before retiring in July 2018. While employed with Rome City PD, PFC Richey served in the Patrol Division, Rome/Floyd METRO Task Force, SWAT team, and as a Hostage Negotiator. She also served as a School Resource Officer at both Rome High School and Rome Transitional Academy (RTA).
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Emerson and Ruby Mae Young Gibbons; and siblings, Charles Gibbons, Sarah Shooks, William Emerson, Clarence Gibbons, and Morris Gibbons.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three wonderful sons, that she shares with Silas Howard Richey, Sr., Silas Howard Richey, Jr., Bryan Duaine Richey, Sr. (Amber), and Jason Dontay Richey (CaShay); sister, Merylon Ware; brother, Jimmy Gibbons (Sylvia); grandchildren, Kilas Richey, Terice Burrell, Caitlyn Richey, Kori Richey, Kamryn Richey, Bryan Richey, Jr., Coria Sutton, ChaNya Sutton, King Richey; two great grandchildren, Kilan Johnson and Kashtin Price; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was truly loved and will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
