Richard Witt, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Richard Clinton Witt, Jr., 77, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at his residence.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Christian Center, 3831 Tramore Pointe Pkwy., Austell, Georgia 30106.  Interment will take place on Monday, August 22, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia 30114. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.

Mr. Richard Clinton Witt, Jr. was born to the proud parents of Mr. Richard Witt, Sr. and Mrs. Ada Pope Witt in Winder, Georgia on March 25, 1945.  He was the first son born to this union.  The family relocated to Cartersville, Georgia and he attended Summer Hill Elementary and High School, graduating in the Class of 1963.  Richard furthered his education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia.  After leaving Morris Brown, he joined the United States Navy and served his country for 21 years.  While serving, he was able to travel to many places and see the world.  He was quite accomplished, receiving many high-ranking promotions, ribbons, metals and honors.  Richard was last stationed in Hawaii, lived there for several years, and loved it.
Richard married the late Bobbie Witt and they had two children.  After Bobbie’s passing in Hawaii, he returned to Cartersville, Georgia to help his brother Thomas care for their mother and sister.  While making phone calls for a class reunion, he came across the number of the girl he had a crush on since fifth grade, Rose Mary Cooley.  Going through school as classmates, Richard never told Rose Mary he had a crush on her until they conversed in recent years.  They were united in Holy Matrimony on July 17, 2019.
Richard said, “I want to see Jesus.” After a brief illness, he went to be the Lord. Early Wednesday morning, with his wife and his brother by his bedside, he went to see his Lord!
He was preceded by his father, mother, and brother.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Rose C. Shuman-Witt; two children, Richard (Markeko) Witt, III, Nachelle Davidson; one brother, Thomas Witt; one sister, Carolyn Witt; step-children, Rita Stevenson, Reginald Shuman, and Minca Shuman; grandchildren, cousins, Faith Christian Center Family, and a host of family, friends, and loved ones.
