Robert Lee Lavette

Mr. Robert Lee Lavette, 80 of Marietta, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 319 North Erwin Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. The ceremony will be "live streamed" from the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home Facebook page.

Robert Lee Lavette, Sr., 80 years young was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 1, 1940 to the union of Adele and John Willie Lavette.

He was educated in the Bartow County School System.  During his early years of life Hawkins Dry Cleaners employed him where he met his beautiful wife Jane Evelyn Peeks.

They were married in 1958 and to this union nine children were born. Robert joined Turner Chapel A.M.E. in 2000 where he remained a member until his passing

Robert accepted a job with Union Carbide where he remained for ten years.  After leaving Union Carbide he went to work for Lockheed Martin and retired after thirty years as a Foreman/ Aircraft Mechanic. Robert was always one that remained busy; after retirement he worked around the house doing minor repairs, keeping his lawn manicured and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adele and John Willie Lavette; two brothers, John and Silas Donaldson.

Robert leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted and loving wife, Jane Evelyn Lavette; daughters, Gwendolyn Carter (Bennie), Cynthia Lavette- Roberson (Jackie), and Tonia Lavette- Baker (Monta); sons, Darrell (Sheila), Robert, Gregory (Judy), Kerry (Debra), Samuel (Carrie) Lavette and Robert Richards; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in- laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
