Obituary

Mr. Robert Lee Phillips, Jr. , 58 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00AM at Highpoint Christian Tabernacle Church, 3269 Old Concord Road SE, Smyrna, GA 30082. The body will lie in state from 10:00AM until the hour of service. The family will have Repast immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 9:30AM with Military Honors at the Georgia National Cemetery , 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane , Canton, GA 30114. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.

On the 23rd day of April 2023, Robert Lee Phillips Jr. was called to his heavenly home while being uplifted in prayer by his family and friends.

Robert was born on July 4, 1964, In Rome, Georgia to Ida Woods and the late Robert Lee Phillips Sr. He was the oldest of four children and loved his siblings dearly.

Robert accepted Christ at an early age and embodied Christian principles through the love he showed his family and those connected to him. He was educated in the Floyd County School System graduating from West Rome High School. After graduating from high school Robert enlisted in the United States Navy on October 14, 1986 where he served as a Boilermaker, Welder, and a Military Police Officer. While serving his country Robert received a National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3) and was Honorably Discharged on July 8, 1996.

 Robert was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life and high school sweetheart Palma Chatman on February 12, 1987 and their love birthed two children, Robert and Jasmine.

Robert was an avid fisherman, cook and a “Die Hard” Georgia Bulldog Fan.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted and loving wife, Palma Phillips; children, Robert and Jasmine; grandson, Kayson; daughter-in-love Kaci; son-in-love, Dominique; mother, Ida Woods; siblings, Vera, Tundra, and Jerome; mother-in-law, Gloria Clifton; brother-in-law, Reggie; uncle, Tim; nephews, B.J., Bree, Chaffus, Kadarius, Adrian and Reggie Jr.; nieces, Tiara, Chelsa and Chelsea; and a host of other aunts uncles, cousins and friends.
