Robert Lee Tuggle

Mr. Robert Lee Tuggle, 90, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Lincoln Cemetery, Inc., 2275 Joseph E. Boone Blvd., Atlanta, Georgia 30314. Please keep the family of Mr. Robert Lee Tuggle in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.

Robert Lee Tuggle was born on March 23, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lula Redwine Tuggle and Clarence Tuggle.  He was the only child born to this union.  Robert was baptized and worshiped under the leadership of his father Reverend Clarence Tuggle.

Robert was educated in the Atlanta Public School System.  After graduating high school, he attended Morehouse College.   On June 27, 1947, while attending college, Robert was drafted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on March 3, 1952.  While serving, he received the China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal (Asiatic Clasp) and Good Conduct Medal.  After returning home from service, he accepted a job with Lockheed Georgia as a Mechanical Engineer and retired after 45 years of service.

In 1957, Robert met and married the love of his life Vernice Eppinger, who preceded him in death.  As a young man Robert, developed a love for horses and always wanted to own his own.  His first purchase was Nugget.  After Nugget passed, he purchased Blaze.  He spent all his free time at the stables with Blaze.  Conversations with Robert were very intriguing.  He was an avid reader and shared his knowledge with those he engaged.  He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting stamps, solving the newspaper crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and the Old Western movies.

On Thursday, June 11, 2020, Robert took his eternal rest from earthly labors.  He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters-in-law, Armentha Williams, Ruth Eppinger and Gloria Eppinger; nieces, nephews, cousins; his beloved horse, Blaze, and a host of friends.
