Ms. Roberta Elizabeth Buford, 66 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 9:00AM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 8:00AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, 165 Old Tennessee Rd. NE, Cartersville, GA 30121.

Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place, and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.

Roberta Elizabeth Buford passed away early on September 5, 2021. She was born on November 13, 1954 to the late Robert L. Buford and Nellie Mariah (Knox) Buford. She was lovingly known as Mama, Auntie , Sister, Godmother, Bert Bert, Bobo, and Buttons.

Roberta was educated in the Cartersville Public School System beginning at Summer Hill School and culminating in graduation from Cartersville High School with the Class of 1972. She was employed by Headstart, Cartersville Kindergarten, and Cody J's, but spent the majority of her career as a Special Ed. Para-professional with the Cartersville City School Systems.

Roberta was an avid Cartersville High School football fan. She truly enjoyed her CHS Class of 1972 and her 4th Grade 1964 Summer Hill Class gatherings. She took pride in being the WBHF Birthday Lady and making sure people won the cake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Lee Buford, III (Bobby).

Roberta leaves to cherish her loving memories; her daughter, Frances Elizabeth (Betsy) Wheeler; sisters, Charlotte Bonney (William), Susan Buford, and Janie Buford; nephews, Derrien Bonney (Arthi), Mike Kennedy (Adrianne), Thad, and Justin Bonney (Kerstien); great nieces and nephews, Jadyn, Imani, Nick, Nia, Arielle King, Morgan, and Kyleigh; aunts and uncles, Lorena Mays, Ethel Marie Johnson, Johnnie Davenport, Bobbie Mae Buford and J.W.Conner. She also had a special place in her heart for Goddaughters, Latoya Bray and Deshawna Griffin, as well as, Pam Couey, Paige Lanier, Patti Rogers, Amp Camp, Chris Griffin, J.D. Jones, Maya Jones, Morgan Jones, Shay Alexander, LeSheena Morgan, Robbie Livsey, and A.C. Lee. She enjoyed her daily conversations with Darlene Williams, Sherrion Lee, Claudette Sams, Denise Bryant, Alene Henderson, Kim Richards and time spent with a host of relatives and friends.
