Shirley Ann Ross was born on September 20, 1948 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Ollie Roberts and Eddie Ross. In her youth, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a woman of deep faith and put God first in all aspects of her life. She was educated in the Cobb County School System, graduating from Lemon Street High School. She furthered her education, where she received several certifications.
Shirley met and married Rev. James B. Jewell, Jr. and, together they raised four children. She cherished her family and the relationships she developed as First Lady of the church. Her love for children and education, led her to accept a job with Hickory Log Vocational School, where she could help children with developmental disabilities and brain injuries.
It gave her great pleasure seeing her family enjoying the delicious meals she cooked. Traveling the countryside with her husband J.B. taking in the different attractions that the world offers bought her much joy. Adventure was an important part of her life here on earth and travelling was the best way to enjoy what this world has to offer anyone.
Her parents; two brothers, Edward Ross, Jr., Douglas Eugene Ross and Stevie Lamar Ross; and one sister, Rosa Lee Ross Hood, preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory, her beloved and dedicated husband Apostle James B. Jewell, Jr.; children, Shelia (Roderick) Lovelace, Kevin Lamar Ross, Bridgett Clark and James B. (Ida) Jewell; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins other relatives and friends
