Mr. Sidney Eugene Maxwell, 69 of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 1:00PM at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 130 Jones Street, Cartersville, GA. 30120. The body will lie in state in the church from 12:00PM (Noon) until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery, 165 Old Tennessee Rd. NE, Cartersville, GA 30121. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 7:00PM - 8:00PM at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home, 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
Sidney the baby of five was loved by his family!! He was "Dad", GrandPaw, PawPaw, Pops, Fat Butt, Mack Mack attack, Unk and El Dog. He was born in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Harvey W. Maxwell and Annie Mae LaVette Maxwell on July 27, 1952. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke A.M.E.Church where he accepted Christ at a early age. Sidney loved ST. Luke and played the bongos under the leadership of several pastors in recent years.
He was educated at the Lemon Street High School in Marietta, Georgia. Upon graduation he was provided tuition by (Mama, Mrs. Fannie Mae) to attend Morris Brown College. He was there for a short period of time.
Sidney lost his path; he lived a life full of ups and downs with many wrong turns. By the grace of God, he was able to clean his life up and serve as a member of Narcotics Anonymous. He served as an unofficial mentor for several youth warning them about the pitfalls in life. He was a lover of great music and began to play in the band called the Froggy Bottom Boys. He especially loved Brooks Auto Salvage where he assisted with managing the front desk, answering calls, ordering , and driving to pick up various parts.
Sidney was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Annie Mae Maxwell; his Mama/Aunt Fannie Mae Maxwell Kelly, and Aunt Myrtle Jefferson; his son Eugene"Man" Maxwell; his brothers, Harvey (Boo) Maxwell, Jr., Dee Maxwell and James (Jupy) Maxwell.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving sister, Madeline Hayes; two loving daughters, Veronica Moore-Owens and Natasha Monique Ragland; two devoted grandchildren, Isaiah Jorge and Terriana Newton; a devoted fiancee, Irish Perkinson; a dedicated nephew , Harvey Maxwell III; loyal cousins, Bobby (Irma) Dodson; a kind sister-in-law, Charlene Maxwell;a special niece, "Ladybug"; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends who will cherish his memory, Patrick, Annie, Kenny, Bronco, Castleberry, Belinda, Rodney, Lenis and many more.
