Walter Alexander Johnson III, aka "Ricky" passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 3, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 106 Fire Tower Road NW, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Interment will follow in Cassville Cemetery, Cemetery Street, Cassville, Georgia 30123. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home , 210 North Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement. This service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
Walter Alexander Johnson III was born on December 11, 1957, in Cartersville, Georgia, to the late Walter A. Johnson II and the late Susie Mae Garnigan.
Affectionately known as “Ricky,” he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and attended New Hope Baptist Church. He was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated from Cass High School, where he was an exceptional athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track and field. He went on to attend Morris Brown College.
After college, Ricky began his professional career selling insurance and working at Georgia Power before starting a long career as a car salesman. He loved his work and sold cars throughout Bartow County and across the country.
Ricky was known for his sense of humor and his love of fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael Johnson; and his grandparents, Irene and Jessie Smith, and Willie and Walter Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory three children: Misty Grayer (Daryl), Ricky Johnson, and Walter Johnson IV; his devoted brother, Tony Johnson (Kim); sister, Gloria Wilkey (Lamar); special sister, Lori Smith-Robinson; grandchildren: Tripp Grayer, Ricky Johnson Jr., and Cassidy Johnson; aunt, Betty Gober (James); special friends, Gary Gainor, Bobby Joe Owens, and Stanley Tremble; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
