Reverend Willie Howard Perkinson, 72 of Emerson, Georgia passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Cartersville Heights Center for Nursing and Healing in Cartersville, Georgia. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 1:00PM at Sunset Memory Gardens , 790 Indian Mound Road SE, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this time of bereavement.
Due to COVID-19 regulations and guidelines, physical distancing practices will be in place , and MASK ARE REQUIRED for those that will be attending the service. The family is the main concern during this time of bereavement and space will be limited. We have to ensure the family is able to attend the service, so there is a possibility of some friends not being admitted. However, the service will be LIVE-STREAMED.
God, in His infinite wisdom and sovereign power, called for the spirit of our dear and beloved, Rev. Willie Howard Perkinson, from labor to reward, on Friday, December 17, 2021.
Reverend Perkinson was born to the late Mr. Herbert Perkinson and Mrs. Eula Mae Kellogg Perkinson on May 4, 1949 in Cobb County, Georgia. He was educated in the Bartow County School System. Reverend Perkinson was employed by Cimbar Baroid Minerals for over 20 years. He also used his skills and talents as a carpenter to perform various jobs, eventually starting his own business, Perkinson Construction.
He enjoyed hunting and playing softball and he and his brother, Nathaniel, done this for many years together. He also enjoyed karate and riding motorcycles, which he took many trips to Jacksonville, Florida with his nephew, Roy. Reverend Perkinson was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Charlene Perkinson on August 24, 1969 and to this union , one daughter was born, Martina Perkinson. They also took their great-niece, Sierra Glenn and raised her as their own.
Reverend Perkinson received Christ as his personal Savior and joined Damascus Baptist Church. He was active as a member of the Sons of Damascus, sang in the Male Chorus and served with his late wife , Sister Charlene, as President of the Pastor's Aide for many, many years. He served as a Deacon until he was called to serve as Pastor at Second Baptist Church, Summerville, Georgia. He led the congregation of Second Baptist for 20 years.
Reverend Perkinson was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Perkinson; his wife, Charlene Perkinson; two brothers, John Martin Perkinson and Walter Cicero Perkinson; and one sister, Nettie Mae Stephens.
Reverend Perkinson leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter, Martina Perkinson and a special great-niece, Sierra Glenn, both of Emerson, Georgia; two brothers, Herbert (Lenora) Perkinson of Cartersville and Nathaniel (Linda Ann) Perkinson of Emerson; three sisters, Frances Brown of Cartersville, Barbara Fowler of Acworth and Evelena Linley of Cartersville; one sister-in-law, Thelma Perkinson of Smyrna; two god-sons, Jason Fowler and Joshua Fowler, and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, relatives and friends.
