Frank Henderson, Jr.

Mr. Frank Henderson, Jr., 96, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27,  2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of Christ, 425 Martin Luther King Drive, Adairsville, GA 30103. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.
 
Frank Henderson Jr. was born January 24, 1920, in Cartersville, Georgia in the Pine Grove Community to Frank Henderson Sr. and Emma L. Pierce Henderson. He attended  Pine Grove Elementary School, and later in life earned his GED. Frank was raised on the family farm with his sister Annie L. Patterson . Continuing the family tradition, Frank and his first wife , the late Agnes Canty Henderson raised their 4 sons on the farm.
 
As a Master Barber, he earned the reputation of being the best barber in Cartersville. Everyone in the community affectionately called him "Buddy". In addition to his barbering skills, Buddy Henderson was also known for his beautiful singing voice, often serenading friends and family at gatherings, while playing his guitar. Word spread of his talent, and he was often offered a chance to enter a competition that would have propelled him out of Bartow County and onto probable fame and fortune. Buddy chose his family and the farm instead.
 
In 1990 Frank married his second wife, Miriam McDow Henderson. As faithful church members they each participated in their church communities. When he was unable to attend church due to his health, Frank continued to worship in his home on Sundays, via the Jimmy Swaggart television ministry. As he came up on the rough side of the mountain, Miriam walked steadily beside him. Throughout his illness when it became difficult to get around, she took on his care, allowing him to live his final years in comfort and love.
 
Left to mourn Frank "Buddy" Henderson Jr are his wife, Miriam McDow Henderson; sons William Travis Henderson, Frank McNeil Henderson III (Beverly), Danny Lamar Henderson, DDS (Cynthia), Duane Anthony Henderson (Cicely), and Brian Arnold; grandchildren, Cedric Lewis, Aisha LaBarrie, Andre Thomas, Keisha Hicks, Frank McNeil Henderson IV, Lance Kent, Deja, Whitney and Whitley Henderson, eleven great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
