GEORGE EDWARD LEWIS, JR.

Mr. George Edward Lewis, Jr., 70, of Emerson, GA. passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 2:00pm at Damascus Baptist Church, Emerson, GA. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Cartersville, GA., The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the hour of service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.

On Tuesday evening, September 13, 2016 God saw fit to call George Edward Lewis, Jr. home to Glory. George Edward was also affectionately known as “Jiggy” by his siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. He was born on April 2, 1946, in Cartersville (Bartow County) Georgia, to the late Mr. George Lewis, Sr. and Mrs. Ruth Linley Lewis.

He joined Damascus Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until health issues prevented him from attending on a regular basis. Listening to Gospel music on Sunday mornings was one of his favorite things to do.

George was employed at Mohawk Carpet for 30 plus years. He was a very hard worker and received several awards.

He loved his family and always looked forward to family gatherings. He leaves to cherish his memory a family that loved him dearly; one brother, Bobby Ray Lewis (Clara); four sisters, Betty Ann Ellis, Delores Threatt (Marvin), Daisy Carol McMickens and Debra Wells (Greg); two aunts, Mrs. Louise Knowles and Mrs. Ollie Linley; two very special nephews, Keith Ellis and Edward Ellis; a very special niece, Pamela Louise Ellis, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
