Mamie Lee Durham, 63, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Grassdale Church, 209 N. Bartow Street, Cartersville, Georgia. The body will lie in-state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Grassdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mack Eppinger and Sons Funeral Home.

Mamie Lee Durham was born in Bartow County on May 19, 1953 to Ruby Richie and the late John Durham Jr., one of eleven children born to this union.

She was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated from Summer Hill High School.

Mamie started her career with the Sun Bridge Nursing Home, as a Nursing Assistant and worked for many years. Mamie had the heart of a true servant, after leaving Sun Bridge she accepted a job with the Fite Living Center and served faithfully as a caregiver to the residents there.

She spent her whole life being dedicated to God and her children. She was blessed to have met Richard Lee Flowers of Alabama and to this union two children were born, Amy Flowers and Richard Clayton Flowers.

Mamie received her early spiritual teaching at Grassdale Baptist Church.  In 1990, as an adult she joined First Corinth Church, Calhoun GA, under the pastorate of Bishop William S. Weems.  When Bishop Weems moved to pastor Hope in Christ Ministries, she followed him there, and continued to serve in many capacities of the church.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughter, Amy Flowers of Cartersville, GA. and Richard Clayton Flowers (Carla London) of Summerville, GA.; mother, Ruby Doris Richie Durham; eight grandchildren, Kamicca Moore (Brettney) John Flowers, Howard Carson III, Lamicca Bullard (Walter), Destinee Carson, Khadejah L. Flowers, Richard C. Flowers II, and Richard C. Flowers III (Tre’); seven great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Mae Wheeler, Martha Ann Wilson and Jacqueline Durham; brothers, Sam Durham, Charles Durham and Claude Durham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
